Bee Hive and Clam Chowder

We made our way to Dean's and Penny's house (which is for sale, btw, if anyone is looking for a lovely house in Bar Harbor) on Friday morning. Dean had mentioned possibly hiking a trail that has rungs called the Bee Hive. He said that's where he takes a lot of people because it is short and close to his house, so we said sure, we would like to try it. I didn't know what "rungs" were, but I wanted to try whatever it was. When we got there, here is what we saw.

Lol (nervously).

I knew the view would be amazing, and we were going for adventure. We were here, so off we went.

Beautiful, right?? So we continued.

I pretty quickly realized that there was no way I was going to be able to head back down, as it was a bit more precarious going down this way instead of of heading up, so we made our way up. And this is what it was looking like. I have never gotten more intimate with a rock before.

Here I am hugging a rock.

Here I am practically kissing a rock:

Did I say that I have a fear of heights??!!??

But as you can see, Dean was always there with a hand, and Anthony was behind me willing to help. No, wait, he was there holding a camera waiting to get a great shot. JK. He was awesome too.

But as we were told, we did have amazing views when we got to the top.

Would I do it again? Nope. Anthony would in a heartbeat. And why am I so sore??

Anyway, thanks Dean for the hike, and for your's and Penny's hospitality. It was great to see y'all while we are visiting Bar Harbor.

We were looking for a place to try clam chowder, and were told to try the Thirsty Whale.

I asked if it was gluten free, and it was not, so I had a hamburger on a gf bun and Anthony got to enjoy a bowl of the clam chowder, which was perfect on a chilly day.

He gave it two thumbs up. And my burger was delish also.

As we had been driving around Bar Harbor (or as the locals say, Bah Habah), we had noticed a lot of people eating ice cream, and we thought it sure is cold outside to be eating ice cream, but I couldn't resist. They had about 25 flavors and I immediately picked out what looked good to me, toasted coconut. Then Anthony noticed a single photograph on the wall and looked at it and asked, is that really him?? And the lady said, yes, it is. So our president had visited several years ago, and she said that he had picked out toasted coconut too, ha!!

And I highly recommend the toasted coconut at the Mountain Desert Island Ice Cream Shop.

We were just in time to head up Cadillac Mountain to catch the sunset, and of course, it was pretty impressive.

Even the moon was showing out.

Wow.

As were heading back to our trusty sleeping spot in the Ellsworth Walmart parking lot, we pulled up the weather, and there was a little red exclamation point. Well, it said there was a freeze warning that night. But with our sleeping bag, blanket, and body heat, I knew we would be okay, but our car looked like this, this morning.

Today we are going to try hiking up Cadillac mountain again. Hopefully, it will be a clear day and we will get to enjoy the views.
